SEARCHING HIGH AND LOW

Twisted vines on stand: I spied these in San Francisco's design Galleria @ Kravet. For me, these are a great possibility for my Palm Desert Nursing facility. While unconventional decor- I really love their natural color, shape and texture. What better sculpture than from nature?

This enormous table was spied in a shop along Beverly Blvd. This "harvest" table is a good contender for the wine cave at my Geyserville estate. We need something solid. I think this would be perfect surrounded by bottles of the best vintage and simply adorned with great friends and wonderful meals.

This pile of metallic taborets have wonderful, varying, textures. I like them displayed as is in a pile.

I couldn't resist this huge, octagon, lantern. I figuring out how to incorporate it in to my Santa Cruz facility. I need to bronze it first.

It is funny when inspiration hits you- while walking through the Beverly Center (read mall!) I was walking very quickly past this wall because I was on a mission to the Apple Store. Suddenly, it hit me- what a great treatment for a nurses station? I think so.

Leather floor tiles at Edelman Leather @ the PDC...I love the pallet of natural color and its smooth texture. This is chic.

I must have been on a roll when I spied these petrified beauties all in a row. These are definitely going to find a home in Santa Cruz. Again, nature is pretty perfect for creating decor.

Who knew Home Depot had great lighting hidden? This special order pendant with its milky glass says updated, yet classic. I'm considering a very large grouping of them in a foyer.

Just because its was compact and pretty. Need anything more?

This architectural beauty in Palm Springs conjures up so many ideas....

Honey Onxy tile...one of my favorites of all time. Another possibility for Santa Cruz skilled nursing facility. I mean, have you ever? In a nursing home....goodness.

Probably one of my best finds this month...this stone table base actually came with an enormous glass top...but I nixed the top and only took the base. This piece, with a little TLC will be the center table in my Palm Springs nursing facility. I adore everything about it...the spiral shape- the smokey color- and the price to boot...it was about 200 dollars! It proves my point that good design does not have to cost a lot. Of course, it helps to have a keen eye. Only one decision left- Smoked glass top or antiqued mirror? I am leaning towards mirror.
Hello Again:
It has been such a long time since I have really been able to sit down and filter through the tons of photos I take here and there of objects, places, or buildings that spark something inside. You know that feeling- when you look at something and it clicks- it just feels right? These days, THANK FULLY, I am super busy with projects- ranging from a family room redo to the wine country estate- and of course- all of the skilled nursing facilities.
Oh, and lets add in a handful of upcoming episodes for an HGTV project (must get camera ready!), mentoring a FIDM student on furniture design --- which I have been doing for the past few years now(More on that to come)-- One non-profit project for the Down Town Woman's Center-- gearing up again for the JAK collection to debut in a few boutiques, along with some custom fabrics with my fabulous furniture partner Kelly LaPlante( fingers crossed)- and a meeting with a pretty big healthcare linen company regarding a new line! It is all good and, oh so, filled with possibility. So it is nice to sit down and find a little time to rediscover all these little objects that inspire.
Rediscovery of simple pleasures is pretty perfect. Here is to your simple pleasures.
